AOSA/NCAOSA Member Benefits and Resources
AOSA has instituted a new Unified Fee Structure. Now, you must join AOSA in order to be a member of NCAOSA. Anyone can still attend local workshops, but only members of AOSA will be considered NCAOSA members and receive national & local membership benefits.

Video Library
NCAOSA has had a history of filming workshops so our members may view the videos at a later time. In the spring of 2018 we began converting the extensive DVD collection to an online streaming platform. Our members can n0w stream several past chapter workshop videos, which can be accessed through our Video Library page with a member password.
Streaming Procedure:
- Must be a current member of AOSA/NCAOSA.
- Contact our registrar to confirm your active membership.
- Receive a password and instructions from the registrar.
- Navigate to our Video Library page and enter your password.
Instrumentarium Loan
NCAOSA owns two sets of Orff instruments that are available for chapter members to borrow between workshops. These sets include:
- Soprano & alto xylophones
- Soprano & alto metallophones
- Soprano & alto glockenspiels
- F# and Bb bars for each instrument
- 1 set of mallets for each instrument
- *Carrying cases
- *Sub-contra bass C, F, and G bars
- *1 bass xylophone & 1 bass metallophone
*Compact 1000 series only
Instrumentarium Checkout Procedure:
- Must be a current member of AOSA/NCAOSA.
- Read our Loan Agreement
- Fill out our Loan Application Form
- Pay $250 with cash, check, credit card, or PayPal at the time of checkout. Deposit will be refunded when the instruments are returned in good condition.
- $200 deposit
- $50 non-refundable maintenance fee
- Arrange for transportation of the instruments from the workshop, or current borrower.
- Return the instruments at the following workshop, or deliver to the next borrower.
- Write a short reflection article for PlayNotes about your experience with the instruments.

Scholarships & Grants
NCAOSA offers financial aid to current members for professional development in Orff Schulwerk. Our scholarships are most frequently awarded to Bay Area public school teachers who demonstrate financial need, who work with an under served population, and who are new to Orff Schulwerk. However, we strongly encourage any chapter member to apply regardless of teaching situation.

AOSA National Conference Scholarship
We offer scholarships for chapter members to support attending the AOSA national conference.
Application Procedure:
- Must be a current member of AOSA/NCAOSA.
- Must have been a member for at least one calendar year
- Must have attended at least one NCAOSA workshop in the last calendar year.
- Must not have received a scholarship from NCAOSA in the past 5 years.
- Must agree to write an article for our PlayNotes blog after the conference.
- Must submit your application by September 16th to be considered.
Mini Conference Scholarship
We offer scholarships for chapter members to attend our Mini Conference at Hidden Valley Music Seminars. The scholarship covers registration costs, including tuition and meals for the weekend. Scholarship recipients are responsible for their own housing and transportation costs.
Application Procedure:
- Must be a current member of NCAOSA.
- Must have been a member for at least one calendar year
- Must have attended at least one NCAOSA workshop in the last calendar year.
- Must not have received a scholarship from NCAOSA in the past 5 years.
- Must agree to write an article for our PlayNotes blog after the conference.
- Must submit your application by November 1st to be considered.
College Credit
NCAOSA partners with Dominican University of California, to grant 1 CEU credit to members who attend 3 of our annual workshops. We also offer 1 unit of credit to members who attend our Spring Mini Conference, offered every other year.
Practical Applications of Orff-Schulwerk(1 Credit)
- Participants must be current AOSA/NCAOSA members
- Participants must attend all 3 sessions in the NCAOSA workshop series
- Following each session, participants will submit a written reflection containing key takeaways, and the implications of each workshop on their own practice to pastpresident@ncaosa.org. Papers should be approximately 3-4 paragraphs per workshop (1-2 pages).
- The unit fee is $55.

Reciprocal Chapter Workshops
Participants who have purchased a year long series package with another local AOSA chapter may attend any of our single day workshops for FREE! (this does not apply to Mini Conference). Associations whose members benefit from this include:
- American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA)
- American River Chapter (AROSA)
- Sierra Nevada Chapter (SNAOSA)
- Central California Music Fusion (CCMF)
If you don’t see your association listed above, contact our Registrar to see if you are eligible for this discount.
NCAOSA participants who have purchased year long packages may also be eligible to receive reciprocal chapter discounts for workshops offered by the above organizations. We recommend contacting each chapter directly to learn about any discounted workshop rates offered to NCAOSA year long package participants.
